I don’t know how many female readers I have, or guys that happen to wear makeup, but I thought I’d share this video from YouTube that demonstrates how you can apply makeup in the style commonly worn in the 1940s and 50s.
I found all kinds of other how-tos on YouTube demonstrating makeup and hair from this particular era. I already knew how to put my hair up in victory rolls, but discovered there’s an even easier way to do it!

If you haven’t heard of the artwork of Art Frahm, you’re in for a treat! Art Frahm was a pinup artist who painted pinup girls in the 1940s to 1960s.
The funny thing about Art was that he painted a LOT of pinups that featured women with falling panties. Strangely, they were almost always carrying a bag of groceries. These are perhaps the strangest pinups I’ve ever seen, and quite entertaining. I’m not sure why I find the whole falling panties theme funny… perhaps I’m just immature.
Even funnier is this website which features a “study of the effects of celery on loose elastic”, a hilarious look at the artwork of Art Frahm. Take a look at this page, and just hit next at the bottom for more. You wouldn’t believe how many falling panties with celery paintings there are!
I absolutely adore the little ruffle-bum panties that the model in this photo is wearing. They are so cute! Vintage cheesecake babes could probably buy these more easily than we can today, but the ruffle bum has started to make a comeback. I’ve seen panties with ruffles around them like this in several of the more popular lingerie stores. Of course I was quick to buy some!
There are various online stores that offer vintage lingerie nowadays and I’ve seen lots of styles of ruffle bum panties, bloomers, and lacey girdles. I think I might start shopping around and add to my collection.
